Cascamorras is the star of one of Spain's most original and vibrant festivals, 🎉 declared of International Tourist Interest. It's a historical figure that unites the towns of Guadix and Baza in a celebration full of color, tradition, and emotion. 👣 ✋🏿🤚🏿
What is the party about? 🖌️🖤
Every September, Cascamorras tries to "steal" the venerated Virgin of Mercy from Baza to take her to Guadix. But... the people of Baza won't make it easy! 😜👣 They greet him with gallons of black paint and a strong desire to stain him. 🖤✋ Although he never achieves his goal, he returns to Guadix a true hero. 🏅🖤

Legend has it that a resident of Guadix (Accitano) discovered the image of the Virgin of Mercy while working in Baza. When he tried to bring it back to his city, a dispute arose that ended with the agreement to leave the Virgin in Baza, but with the right to a joint celebration. 🤝🙏🖤 ✋🏿🤚🏿
